Visit to the GOD's Own Country

My friend rang me up on 22nd OCT '05 evening, suggesting that we go for a trip the next day to Athirapally Falls AKA Chalakkudy. I was told that the falls shot to fame after the Movie Punnagai Mannan that was shot out of this exotic location. I gave a nod despite being indifferent to the trip.
In less than 9 hours (At the dawn), we (five of us TCSers) were racing in the Palghat NH. With Shankar Mahadevan' "Dil Chahta Hai" in the woofers and the fresh misty morning around..... "Man that was Heaven"

In less than 4 hours we reached the falls. In fact on the way to the falls we had a glimpse of the nature's beauty couple of times from the view points.

After the tiresome journey, the refreshing bath helped in relaxing our muscles. We then got down to the foot of the hill, to have a few snaps. From Athirapalli falls, we reached Thrichur to visit the famous "Guruvayur Temple". To comply to the norms of the temple, we claded ourselves in dhoti, had a good dharshan of Lord Sri Krishna.

The trip, filled with absolute masty, came to an end as we touched Coimbatore at 9.00 PM. No wonder, Chalakkudy is a must see place.
