The end to a long wait......

Went to my Home for the Ganesh Chaturthi Celebrations (and Of course to get the blessings from my parents on my B-day). Reached home the previous day to the pooja at early morning 3.00AM and went to bed. I was disturbed by my sweet niece (who else would?) @ 10.00 AM, by that time the house was on its routine. My brother who had brought his family for the pooja, asked me about our plans for the day. I just got ready and went to the theatre to get the tickets for the newly released Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu Movie. There was a massive procession called for by a trade union, so I was doubly sure that I would get a ticket at the theatre, given that the procession had lured a huge crowd. We got the tickets and the fun started.

V V was delayed for over many months. I was eagerly waiting to see the movie given the amazing team that came together. Was it a worthy wait? Just read on.....

In a single line, V V is "Technically Par Excellence". The movie will surely put the Johar's and Chopra's to re-think on their so called Desi-Movies that are shot entirely out of a foreign location.

V V is all about hunting down (Title Explained) a Psycho Serial Killer(s). The theme is not new, but was not used in recent times as well. So with hi-tech presentation, its bound to be a super-hit.

Kamal is back. This time as Raghavan, an astute, honest Police Officer . Kamal never ceases to impress. With his coolers, slight tummy and worked-out body, easily fits into the role and even outperforms some real time police officers. What else can I say (write rather). Kamal's efforts could be seen in every frame, going to any length in the interactive sessions with the New York Police Department. The sequence of incidents revealing the "Raghavan Instinct" were pretty interesting. Watch Kamal in his most stylish performance ever. Full marks to Gautham for using the legend to his fullest potential.

Jyothika has done a wonderful job. Still the romance track lacks the chemistry in it (could not help comparing it with Kakha Kakha). Thanks to the team for not making any compromise whatsoever in the presentation. The english dialogues were left as it is and subtitled in Tamil.
Ravi Varman (Dir of Photography) Antony (Editing) and Harris Jayaraj (Music Dir), deserves full credit. The team has come out with a brilliant and terrific work. Ravi's astute brilliance is evident from the chosen exotic locations, the breathtaking camera angles specially in the Manhattan and in the TIMES Square. The picturization of Thamarai's powerful lines were absolutely awesome. Specially, Manjal Veyil and Karkha Karkha (Both My Fav)were shot very well. Karkha Karkha is a feast to watch - Stylish Kamal, Amazing piece of Camera, Great Editing and Wonderful Music. Arguably, Karkha Karkha is one of the best entries that Kamal deserved for a long time. Gautham you did it..... This would be the benchmark for an Action Hero Entry...

BGM was good but could have been better, especially for a Thriller movie like V V.

I would not be doing justice if I fail to give the best credit to the Psychos (Oops, the villains) for their terrific performance. But I felt that some part of the psycho's flashback should have been left in narrations itself. That was an over-dose and made the audiences least comfortable. I could not stop wondering how they gave a U/A certification (View with Parental Guidance) to the movie.

Gautham, wonderful show once again, you have raised the bars of the Tamil Cinema Industry. The movie has in a way met its sky-high expectatons.

To answer the question raised in the beginning, it was certainly a worthy wait to see the movie.

Independent India turns 59

As I write this down, I get apprehensive by looking at the awry way of how we celebrate the day that was earned after shedding millions of lives, the one that came out of strong will power, the only one that can change the destiny of the entire nation........

"Are we really independent?"
- The Prime Minister still delivers the I-Day Speech from a space encompassed by bullet-proof glass. The question remains to be answered.....Are we really independent?
- Social activist Anna Hazare on a fast to death following the attempts to make the Right To Information (RTI) act almost extinct especially after the NDTV Campaign against the corruption practices which has created the much needed awareness against corruption. The question remains to be answered.....Are we independent?

"The way we celebrate the I-Day"

Politicians have almost used the I-Day to discuss the Ruling Parties Achievements and to roll-out major schemes. Satellite channels on their part have done the required damage to kill the sanctity of I-Day.

- It was delightful and extremely useful to see Actress Namitha, Actor Ravi (Sorry if I had missed somebody in other channels) share useful insights on why they chose this profession and some information on what do they like and dislike.
- There were few "SUPER HIT MOVIES" screened for the first time in the entire world (as though there exists a huge competition in screening those super-hit movies).

Agreed, the TRP Rating and the AD Revenue that these programs can create is important for the Satellite TV's. But should we bring even the I-Day in this commercial list. If this continues, Im sure we will leave not even a trace of idea to the younger generation on the "Who's and What's about the Indian Independece War". We are not very far from adding the I-Day to the list of "Just Another Day" when we get a Holiday, and expect some stars' interview, some of our favourite movies to be screened.

The real heroes are to be forgetten there. Somewhere I feel a slight pain in me.
